Epic S.M.A.R.T Fail

You can achieve your SMART goals but still, epically fail in life.

Make sure your goals align with the person you desire to become.

Everything requires maintenance. Especially things of great value.

This includes the relationship with your team, your spouse, your kiddos.

When I doubled down on pursuing my MBA in Finance and becoming a CFA Charterholder while working full-time I violated this principle. BIG TIME.

I rationalized putting my relationships on the back burner with the idea I’d put enough into the proverbial “relationship bank” to last until the end of my studies. The compromises were slow and subtle.

Eventually, I became a shell of my former self basking in the “glory” of burning the candle at both ends.

Technically speaking I was on track to CRUSH my S.M.A.R.T goals. But I was epically failing at life.

My idea of a balanced diet was choosing a different fast food location for lunch and dinner. Hey now...I can feel you virtually judging me right now ;)

At pushing the limits on all fronts I eventually got grounded and was able to start working on the part of my life that had atrophied.

My challenge to you >> pause and take inventory of the things of value in your life. Are they getting the right level of care, love, and attention?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
