You Have 15 Minutes
You have 15 minutes.
Stop feeding the lie of time depravity. If it’s important… TRULY IMPORTANT … you will find the time.
You have 15 minutes to meditate.
You have 15 minutes to be present with your kiddos.
You have 15 minutes to write that important email response.
You have 15 minutes to work out.
You have 15 minutes to write the next paragraph on your book.
You have 15 minutes to make that important phone call.
You have 15 minutes to move your big presentation forward.
You have 15 minutes to make that appointment.
You have 15 minutes to read.
Oh… you don’t have 15 minutes. You are too busy? <side glance> Really? Would you be willing to send me a screenshot of your cell phone & TV usage this past week?
I’m wondering if you’ve somehow found hours to binge your favorite show or scroll through social media. (yes, reading this post counts.)
OR
Have you spent 3 hours complaining about the 15-minute task? I call this the laundry effect. My kids will spend more time complaining about the laundry because the IDEA of doing the laundry is mentally daunting. When I record the actual amount of time it takes to complete end-to-end they were in disbelief in how quickly it can get done.
I’m not saying you are lazy. What I’m saying is 1) Your stated goal isn’t that important OR 2) there is unidentified resistance to moving the goal forward.
Get honest with yourself about WHY you are not completing your important goals. From there carve out time to move things forward to remove the goal from your list.
It really can be that simple.
